plants in my shade garden are a pink and red Astilbe and a pink Bleeding Heart.

I have never grown Astilbe before. The Bleeding Heart I have tried but don't think it was in the right place. So I lost it. Somehow I think this new shady bed will be a good spot in the hot SC climate.

All the ferns, hostas, hardy cylcamen and others have started to show their new tips of growth. Growing things is such a thrill.

Happy plantin' and seedin', Linda B

I had some bleeding heart once. After 2 years they never came back .
I've been thinking of trying Astilbe- let me know how it does for you?

Astilbe for me has been a challenge, but I finally found a place it really likes, so I am happy. The bleeding heart does well for me. It does like to be on the dry side. And it will die back before summer. Just try to remember that it's there under ground. It also does well in part shade/part sun.
