I only got 1 bloom from my little crocus patch this year. Last year there were many more... the foliage looks great this year, but only the one bloom. I googled it, but to no avail...any ideas as to what happened??? |

I wonder what little critters eat the crocus bulb? You might dig down to see if you can find the bulbs. I too love those little crocus, but somehow I don't have much luck with them. Some years they come up and look great then the next, nothing. Just might be they don't all make it. Good Luck Linda B |

could be critters or maybe rot or would the drought have any effect on the bulbs if they were not in a place where you watered other plants? |

thanks guys! that does help...I am still not sure what it could be, but it didn't occur to me about the drought...I just always assumed bulbs were very drought tolerant. I don't think critters ate them, b/c all their foliage is still there. I did spread a layer of compost over that bed last spring and maybe they don't like to be fed? |

Bulbs like spring rain and dry summers. Was spring 2007 wet? Are you giving them bulb food or just compost? My bulb food box says to fertilize at planting and after bloom, so you could try scratching some in now or lifting the bulbs after the foliage dies back and adding bulb food to the hole. Compost is good but maybe it's not enough? |
