I'm a graduate student learning to garden on a small scale - using the modest patch of grass outside my duplex, and lots of containers. I grew up gardening with my mother in Ohio, but central Texas is a whole other world for plants, so I've got lots of experimenting to do! I'm a lover of herbs for cooking, and a beginner vegetable/fruit grower as well. Oh, and flowers are nice too - when I can fit them in around the edible stuff.

Looking forward to getting lots of garden wisdom from the forums here!

Welcome to GG from WI, Basilette! Love the member name, truly unique and creative, especially as you seem to love the herbs. Thanks for joining us, feel free to dig around, and have fun experimenting with the edibles!

Welcome Basilette, from another city gardener. Austin's a great place, isn't it? My daughter lives there, and loves it. Container gardening is so much fun nowadays, there's so many varieties that are designed to be compact.

Get rid of that grass! Bust that turf! Grow colors! Best wishes!
