Joshua trees

If I miss anything about the California desert, it's the Joshua tree!

I've lived in California forever now but just recently I saw a couple of 'em (with flowers) close up. I didn't know what the tree was from close up. I even posted it in the Plant Id section of the forum.

It's a Beauty!

Fruit! The blossoms had already fell.
Now, don't ask if you can eat them b/c I don't know! But they do smell good when you cut them open! Just not brave enough to try them

Native Americans used flower buds and raw or roasted seeds for their nutritional value. Just had to look it up.

I took pictures of the fruit yesterday. The one which is not dry yet looks kinda like a mini water melon (seeds kinda like cucumber seeds).

WOW! I bet it was a good year for the Joshua!
Where did you get those??
All the rain in the desert this past winter must have popped alot of wild flowers!!!
