Hello all, I'm new to this forum as well as gardening. This will be my 1st year ever starting a garden of my own. I'm looking for any tips, tricks, things I need to know. I'm currently looking at my zone and what I should grow. With my garden I'm looking more toward the benefit of growing fresh fruits and vegetables - so I'm not concerned about looks.

Any information would be useful, I will continue to browse and use what info I can find here.

Thanks in Advance

Hi there! I grew up in Cincinnati and just recently moved to Texas, where there's a whole different set of gardening challenges. In Cincinnati, a few produce plants we grew successfully over the years were snap peas, pumpkins, tomatoes, corn, strawberries, and blackberries. Blackberries become almost weed-like in their vigor, but in my opinion you can never have too many of those tasty little things.

Welcome to GG from WI, JE! Who'da thunk in mere hours you'd find another Cinni folk? BTW, if you have access to a camera and could post pics of your gardening situation, it'll be easier for us to "see" what you're up to and help out with suggestions. It's kind of daunting to start with such a blank slate, eh?
I can tell you that starting with the easy stuff will definitely give you the confidence to try the more difficult crops. Green beans (pole or bush), morning glories, snow peas, corn, are all crops I raised when I first began "digging" this dirt stuff. Anyhow, thanks for joining us, and feel free to dig 'round a bit...

Hi Johnathon, from another newbie. Did I spell your name right? That's so unusual - what's the origin?

I started out in gardening just like you - all about growing food. Here's hoping you get some bumperous crops!
