When I have an irritable throat I mix up a batch of equal parts honey and vinegar and take a tablespoon every few hours. We've done it since we were littles, that's what grammy always gave us.

Maybe you're dehydrated or having sinus trouble? It's pretty common this time of year. Honey is good, but nothing will relieve it immediately. It takes a little time. Gargling with hot water with a little salt in it can help, too.

Hope it feels better soon.

anywho most cough drops have WAYY TOO MUCH menthol in them fer me (halls is a great example uhh just put me under with anesthesia if youre gonna give me that crap ok??) somehow we managed ta find 1 thing thats at a good level fer me (outherwise id still be using hard candy an suckers an that as apparentally its the same thing but MUCH cheaper) i usted ta use ludens cherry cough drops now my mom got me some ricola huney herb cough drops im on my first one but they should help

if they dont ill not be afraid to say so an thanks fer help ill have ta try that huney vinegar tric sometime

Hi, Hope your feeling better. I just use white vinegar. I always keep a jar of 'local' honey on hand too. Local honey is preferable 'cause if you do have any allergies you can take a tablespoon of honey each day to get your body acclimated to the local pollens. Sometimes it's hard to find a local source of honey though. For your throat I'm sure the stuff from the supermarket would be fine. =)

Your allergies constantly change and what makes you itch, sneeze, cough, get a grumbly stomach, or even diarhhea can change all your life. It might be something you hadn't even suspected. My husband has had constant sniffles since he was in his late teens and it wasn't until he was almost 30 that he found out it was allergies doing it. Coffee will send him to the restroom within minutes, but he still drinks it in the morning. With me, I get sleepy, congested nose and chest, and my ears clog up. I used to take something for it, but now the doc has me on flonase daily and it's not as bad. I can definitely tell the difference between a cold and allergy bouts for myself. Either way, make sure you get enough fluids.
Hope you're feeling better. Not to be preachy or anything, but if you or anyone else in the house smokes try to stay away from that as best as you can. That will make either worse.

My special weapon is something like Sherrills.. When we were growing up my grandma put two cups of Apple Cider Vinegar and about a cup of honey in a basin (you can add more honey if you want it sweeter. Stir all that together and check for sweetness, then add 4 Eggs.....SHELLS AND ALL !!!! yes thats right..you make sure the shells are clean of course then stand the WHOLE eggs in the mixture, cover it with plastic and leave in fridge for 3 or 4 days, cant remember which but until the shells have gone really soft and sloppy. Then throw the eggs out as all the lime from the shells has gone into the brew. If your kids are like us we all used to invent our coughs to get a desertspoon of "YUM" as we called it whenever we started coughing. Nan used to just bottle it and would keep doling it out for about a week. After that I dont know if it was no good or whether there was just none left but then she would make more. I guess it still would be ok for a while longer though as Vinegar is antiseptic anyway isn't it and its like alcohol I guess... Anyway, I can guarantee it.. Its still YUM for us big kids.. Good Luck.
