I am looking for a shrub. I know what I want it to look like but I have no idea what I'm looking for ![]() I want it to be 8ft tall or there abouts and not too wide. I want to completely block the view to my neighbor's yard while taking up as little space as possible. I like the trees that look like a tear drop (I have no idea what they are called) but all the ones I've seen grow to 30 ft and like 12 ft around..hehe way too big! Any one have any suggestions? |

Argh! I typed out a reply, and it somehow got deleted. Take 2.... The teardrop tree you described sounds like Bradford Pear (fast growing, but die young). I live in the country and like the big and spreading trees, but did a quick search... Evergreens: Canadian hemlock var. Aurea compacta is 8-10'tall by 4-5' and a golden color. Irish Juniper (Juniperus communis 'Stricta') is columnar and 10-12' tall. Mountain Laurels are broad-leaf evergreens that will flower. Deciduous: Rose of Sharon is a flowering shrub 8-12'tall, deciduous so you'll be able to see thru' it in winter, but the branchs do tend to grow fairly thickly. (Me, I'd grow a big blueberry bush, a juneberry tree, or a plum or peach tree which could be espaliered into a blegian fence...but that's just me.) {=^+^=} |
