OMG, I hate these Yahoo-type boards and how they eat your posts, LOL! I just did a whole intro and lost it when I went to add a photo. So hello all, and it's great to be here! I have a blog started, detailing the long hard expensive slog toward carving a garden out of a former turf farm with no topsoil and way too much drainage water. So here are the main things I said in the post that got eaten: -- We moved from Chicago to Kansas in April 2007 -- I'm recently certified in landscape design and have studied horticulture in college (part time) since 2004. -- I'm in my county's Master Gardener program. -- I have a graphic design and marketing background -- Married to a great guy and we have the two best dogs in the world -- Jimmy and Hallie, border collie/lab mixes. It's great to be here -- now I think I will copy all this text in case I lose it! Attachments: ![]() |

I write in word pad or note pad and save it to my desktop some of the time. It keeps you from losing your post if something happens in the middle. You can edit and then copy and paste over and over if you need to. I use another trick for loading pictures, I open two separate entries for Garden Guides. I minimize one while i'm writing in the other. I then minimize that one while getting the URL of the picture that I want to post. This is especially helpful when you want to post multiple pictures, because you can only copy and paste one at a time. The other way would be to edit and add, edit and add and so on, but not my way of doing it. I almost for got to say WELCOME. I am A HILLBILLY from Kentucky. I hope you have a lot of fun here. Welcome to GG from WI, Tina! Yup, you've been initiated into GG, allright, as it sounds like you fell prey to the "post first, text after" glitch in the site. For some odd reason, you've got to post your pictures first then type the text to accompany it, as posting will wipe out everything you've typed. I have had some success with the mentioned copy/paste method from a word processor, but what I find works best for me (I'm always remembering a picture after I've typed a paragraph) is to highlight what I've typed, then do the right mouse click and copy it. Post the pictures, not worrying about the text, as when it all goes away, you've still got it there "in you mouse" just right click again, and select "paste" and voila, there it all is again! (Just did it to post the picture of our dog--your two look really cute!) Otherwise, hope you're finding your way around here OK, and thanks for joining us!

A big welcome too from Williams, CA. I envy all you girls/guys with those cute and lovable dogs. I love cats and dog myself but now can't have any because of my allergy. Dee M.

So glad you stuck it out and stayed with the GG site. You got some good advice about posting photos first and then doing your post. As you have already learned some of our members post in another medium but I just use the "Draft Post" button at the bottom of your message box. It has worked fine for me. I just hit that little button every few lines or paragraphs (I tend to get wordy sometimes, Just ask Mr Bill)and it saves my post. I do get interrupted while I am on the computer and that feature just saves me some frustration. Frankly even if the power goes out or blinks real hard like it did yesterday on me, at least I know my post is still available. Welcome, Linda B from SC |
