Hi folks!!

I am just new to the sunny Okanagan and am interested in growing a Climbing Hydrandea and or Kiwi vine. Oh yes and a Grape vine too! Which grape vine, I am not sure.

Any succes or failures anyone care to share? Thanks!

Welcome to GG from the not-so-sunny WI, onesunlover! I had to Google the Okanagan location, as I wasn't sure where in British Columbia that was! From what I can tell, it seems you're in either Zone 5 or 6, is that right? With the mountains, there are so many Zones out there, I'm not sure what to recommend you try with the vines. We do have several Canadian members, I'm sure one of them will happen by and set both of us right on this.
Anyhow, thank you for joining us, and feel free to dig around a bit!

I went on line and researched climbing Hydrangeas and they got good marks far the most part. They grow big and need to be on a wall or strong trellis. The pictures showed a stone cottage with the vines covering the entire side of the house. They had a very woody and well established vine structure. It doesn't look like something you can move around. I think it likes shade to partial sun.

You have a great day, waving a warm hand from the Hillbilly

I have a kiwi, I got them from Jackson and Perkins, It has taken 5 years for that goofy thing to look like a vine no flowers yet, I have grapes growing up the south side of my garden shed, I don't remember the name, there 3 years old I got 30 pounds of grapes last fall. Always try new things, hey you might get lucky, Kerry
