I have 2 small rose plants. I probably need to repot them and i also didn't even trim them. I left the outside too. I'm not sure if they are dead or not. Things have just been so crazy. I just don't know where to start with anything either. I really have no idea what I'm doing. I don't know where I want to put them in the garden so I want to repot them in pots. Regular potting soil? Special potting soil? What do you put on the bottom to prevent slugs and stuff from climbing up? When do you prune and how much? What the heck do you normally do with plants in the winter? I feel like an idiot

Roses should do well for you in Tulsa,OK Prune or trim back roses while they are dormant, like now. Potting soil is fine to repot them. But putting them in the ground is fine as well. Put some potting soil in the hole first and mix it into the soil first then plant your roses. There is so much information on roses, the web or where ever you buy your gardening items. Don't fret over them, they will be fine. Slugs do not like to crawl on anything rough, so putting some bark mulch or even sand around your roses will keep them away. Of course they love to 'swim' in beer, and then they fall in and die. If you have your roses in pots you can sit the pots on mulch of some kind or rough rocks/gravel. If you are having a really bad time with slugs, be sure the areas they are the worst are not too wet. Especially if it is around your home. Could be you need to trim back some shrubbery or just again use some mulch to deter the slugs. Linda B |

Thank you so much Linda! I will do that! Where i noticed a few slugs was out front where the dirt is clay and it's always wet. I turned it into a flower bed and added some sand and compost so we'll see how that all works out. |
