I have a lot of space that is next to my house but it gets lots of shade and partial sun. I thought of putting some hostas in but I dont know what else I could use. I also have a 2 year old so kid friendlly would be nice. Thanks.

If you will scroll down some to find the 'Shade' forum, you might get some ideas there. I failed to look to see where you live. I have Hardy ferns on the shady part in my own yard. There are lots of plants you can use. Just look in the shade forum.

For annual color that does well in the shade try impatients or coleus. For perenials try ginger or astilbe.

I have a couple of sites that list poisonous plants. If you want to double check anything before planting it.
