My guess is that the one under the tree is competeing with the tree for sun light and water. What type of tree? I know Pines will affect the acidity of the soil and black walnuts produce a chemical in their roots that can burn other plants. But I think either of these would produce signs of damage and not just a stunting of the bush. Treeman or Ron could probably be of more help in this area. |

Welcome Jimmy to Garden Guides, hope someone can answer your question though I tend to agree that competing with the tree for nutrients and light might be a problem. Also, it is not the best idea to put your email addy on an open forum such as this. There are lots of people that just cruz the internet and you wouldn't want to be hassled by strangers.
