I planted some radishes in a raised bed garden. The seed pack said to keep them moist to avoid a "hot and woody" radish. Did that. The seed pack( and other books I've read) said to wait 20-30 days to harvest. Did that. But this is what I wound up with. My neighbor said that I jumped the gun on my harvest and should have waited longer. While one radish seems fine the others seem stunted. Like I said, the soil was kept moist but not wet. Maybe they need to be almost wet? Anyone seen this before? Attachments: ![]() ![]() |

Oh, yeah, they just look like they were not in the ground long enough. I plant an early harvest variety (says EARLY RADISH) and can get them in that short a period but I wait until I see a very visible bulb before pulling any...and I water them like anything else. Here was a fun one I got last season. Attachments: ![]() |

WOW! Thats a two-fer-one special...leave 'em in the ground longer,check.....lots and lots of water, check. Got it thanks. Seems like my turnips are traveling the same path as my radishes but I'll leave them be and see what happens. |

My radishes looked the same way this year. They all went to seed very fast. I may have planted mine to late and it got warm to fast so that's what I thought is was. Anyone else have any ideas? Maybe I have to much nitrogen in the soil? Help? I've always grown wonderful radishes. Patty |

I to am having this problem. My radish is very short and it's got a long stem and is flowering. I planted these a few at a time over the space of six weeks and have yet to get anything to eat. Attachments: ![]() |
