I found this kewl little fern the other day in Home Depot. It is in a 4 inch pot and is soo cute. It looks just like a minature Evergreen but is very very soft. The tips are white. It looks like it roots from the ends of these leaves. Has anyone ever had one and if so is there any info you care to pass on.
Thanks Dianne

You know, I just saw one of these not too long ago. No tag on the plant. I ended up not getting it, and have been kicking myself every since. I too. would like to learn about it, and hopefully find another someday.

I found info on this little thing. It is a Selaginella Martensii otherwise known as a Winter Fern.

I saw those at the grocery store and they called them a winter fern.

Linda,
Those that I saw looked more like Kinnika's picture than the one in your link. There was definately white at the tips.

This new variety of Selaginella has an upright growth habit with multiple layers of fan-like fronds. As it matures the new growing tips emerge a pale, golden white. Likes humidity and a moist but well drained substrate.

found this info by typing in "Selaginella with white tips photo"

Looks more like it.

Oh that is pretty. I'll have to check into that one. It looks like it would work well in the terrarium I'm working on.

I have had several reports from people that they have just arrived in Wal-mart also. I am going to go and get one for our gift exchange for our Garden Club.

I was thinking I may have to get one too. The only only problem is it is soooo dry in the winter. My Prayer plant is drying up.
