Am hoping someone can identify this fern? It has grown from underneath my neighbors ramp after not being seen for quite awhile. It looks like a fern is lacy and soft to the touch. It grows on stems much the way Clematis grows. Does not bloom. Linda B from SC Attachments: ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Linda ~ is it a Ligodium Japonicum ~ Japanese climbing fern? Take a look at the images on Dave's Garden and see what you think. Whatever it is, I really like it ~ I am a vine nut. BTW ~ I passed! |

I do believe that japanese climbing fern is considered an invasive plant in SC. http://www.invasive.org/eastern/species/3045.html http://www.gainvasives.org/weeds/climbingfern.html |

It has been awhile since I first posted this, but I do remember in researching that it can be invasive. This plant so far only comes up right under the ramp to her back porch. It is coming up again this year. Very pretty and if it does not grow any other place, it makes a nice statement. Thanks GA and welcome to Garden Guides. If you have not already do go to the Introduction Forum and let everyone know you are here. Linda B from SC |

Yep, an invasive fern I have coming up everywhere. It road in on a batch of plants I bought at an auction. It takes over, and is damn near impossible to get all of it's root! Kill, kill, kill. Any piece that touches ground roots. |
