Question - why do the branches(for lack of a better word)of my Christmas cactus have a shriveled appearance and a reddish-pink hue - and still flower - I assume it's in the wrong light - but it seems to happen where ever I move it - except in the summer - when it's outside under a ironwork table - or else it's a watering problem - but in the summer it gets watered under the table every time the sprinklers are on - |

The soil is fairly wet - sits in an southeast window with blinds pulled halfway down so it's shielded from the afternoon sun - have window open a tad at night - live in southern Maine - so night temp is about 50 - leaves are wrinkly and soft at the ends - the first few segments are good and green - the plant is one of the newer hybrids - also have an old one that is a piece of my Grandmothers - that's doing fine - southwest window with blinds part way - but sits on pebbles - |

Hi I live in Southern Maine also, outside of Portland and I have mine in a south facing window with no shades or curtains and mine is in full bloom now. I leave it there all yr and it does wonderful. I was really surprised how well it's been doing, it's been in that window for 5 yrs now. I have a landing on the opposite side of my stairs going upstairs. it's off my bedroom and that is where it is. Good luck with yours. Ready for a couple more snow storms this week???? |
