butterfly bush cuttings

how long will it take a buddleja davidii or butterfly bush to root from cuttings? i never ever done this before

I have rooted them b4, but can't remember how long it took. I always date any cuttings I do. To test when they have taken is by gently tugging/pulling on it. Don't pull hard enough to pull it up, just easy enough to test resistance. If it resist then its rooting/rooted. If it wants to pull up easily leave it alone for a few more weeks. Once it does take root, look at the date you recorded for future reference.

The ones I have done I did as hardwood cuttings so that probably won't help you too much. But if it might, I started mine in late May/early June and by mid-July I had enough roots to support the cutting on it's own.

In a years time you can have a decent plant. Since they are really hardy here, I put some cuttings in my cold frame and kept they over the winter. They should be pretty by summer. Linda B from SC
