Hello, I am new to this site and I hope you can help. I live in zone 6. Last spring, I spotted the white flowers on a shrub in the oak woods along the driveway. It took some time, but I had it ID'd as Deutzia parviflora. It is fountain shaped with exfoliating bark. The flowers were bell-shaped and tipped in red. The flowere cluster lay flat on my hand. It is an attractive thing and is great in my woodsy site. Yes, I moved it into a more prominent postion and it took! I cannot find this plant in nurseries, even on line. The only place I know of it growing is the Arnold Arborteum in MA. That is at least 200mi from me. I am looking for any information on this plant that I can find: history, origin, etc. Thanks for any help. |

I will try--I'm not very good at either photography or uploading pictures. |

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deutzia This page on wikipedia explains about the origin. If you do a search on Google or mywebsearch by typing in Deutzia parviflora you should come up with alot of sites that have info on this shrub. |
