I posted this on the wrong forum before. Does anyone know where I can get seeds for Irish Moss? Thanks John |

I never knew it could be grown from seed - I've just bought it growing and transplanted sections as it spread. |

It is a spore! I get my mosses in brown envelopes, my latest moss is a traditional Japanese Moss called Kyoto Moss I put a few spores on the coffee tree I have at work that I am bonsai'n. It has started to grow!

That's the problem with common names. Sagina subulata, Arenaria verna and Chrondrus crispus are all called Irish Moss. You will be able to find seeds for the first two but not the third. Read the info at this site: http://whatcom.wsu.edu/ag/homehort/plant/Irish_mos s.htm As usual -- Take out the extra space. |

I'd like some Irish moss around my stepping stones. Can I sprinkle seed all over and will it 'catch'? Would a shady spot be better? Leafette |

check seedrack.com, they have seed for sale. It says that it will not do good in a hot dry location. It likes some shade and a good amount of moisture. |
