Hi Everyone! Greetings from southwest Ohio! I've been gardening since my granny gave me a pkg. of marigold and zinnia seeds when I was 9 yrs. old. I couldn't believe I grew all those beautiful flowers from just putting a little seed in the ground. I was hooked! We've lived at this home for 7 1/2 yrs. and started our veggie/flower gardens 4 yrs. ago. The first 3 yrs. we were recuperating from a car accident. I finally decided I was gonna hurt whether I gardened or not, and I needed to get my hands dirty again. This spring we enlarged the garden and grew things to sell at 2 Farmer's Markets. Is there any other market people on here? It's been a lot of hard work, but also lot of fun. My husband started his first seeds this spring, which hooked him, and it's great to have him gardening full time with me. Kids are all grown and out on their own. Our time is spent in the garden in the summer, and planning and starting seeds in the winter. I also have a perennial and butterfly garden. I'm in the process of uploading photo's to my album with more to come when I can find the time to do it. I'm so happy to have found this place! |

Welcome to GG from WI, Tansy! Just looked at your garden...wow, it looks like something in my gardening books! There's a sunflower (picture #11, I think) that is an interesting color, I'm very fond of sunflowers but have branched out into other colors/varieties. #9 looks like it should be on the cover of a card, the colors are so vibrant...keep up the great job, I love looking at gardens that aren't mine. (Jungle, anyone? ) See ya around the patch, and thanks for joining us!

Hi! I'm a direct diagonal from you up on the Lake. I think Ohioans are taking over GG! It sounds like you'll have a lot to bring to our forum from your experience.

Tansy! What can I say about those pictures? Fabulous, I can take a lesson or two from those pictures and apply it around here. I love all of the little decorations you have here and there. I especially like the old bar stool with the pot of flowers in it, very clever. Anyway, enough gushing , welcome to GG and I hope to see more of your beautiful work.

Thank you all for such a warm welcome and nice comments on my garden. I love to find old things and set them around. The sunflower someone was referring to is called Strawberry Blonde. I'll have to look and see where I got them from. I usually plant around 40 to 50 sunflowers each year for my birds. Can't wait to check out the rest of the forum! |
