Hello,

My beautiful Jasmine, about 8 years old, has grown some type of pest on it. I don't know what type of Jasmine it is since I'm not the original owner.

I would appreciate any help to save my plant.

Thanks.

Looks like some kind of fungus..?????? I would take those pictures to the local extention or nursery and ask about it.

Welcome to Garden Guides from WI, abascinar! Sorry to be meeting you under these circumstances, and I wish I could help in diagnosing the problem...chatty is right, that if you can find a local university extension office (Agricultural Department would be a place to start) and perhaps e-mail them those pics, they'd be able to help out. I don't recall hearing from anyone in your area on GG, but perhaps there'll be someone stopping by that can readily identify that growth...Thanks for joining, and hope to see ya soon with better news!

Hello abascinar and welcome. I'm no expert by any means, but you might want to google crown gall. Also, there are some insects that can mound up a nest like that to. Have you noticed any cavities or chamber like areas on it to suggest insects could go in and out of it? I agree on getting it checked out locally.

Crown gall attacks roses, if you have roses you might want to check them to.

Good luck and keep us posted. The reason I suggested crown gall is that looks like some that was on a friend's plants. She was told that it can attack "high end plants".
