DILL PICKLES - I WANT TO MAKE SOME!

I have vivid memories of my Mother's dill pickles. They were the best I've ever had. I also remember the year the pickles were "cloudy" - and I'm almost sure that's when she stopped making preserves. Mom is gone now and of course I have no recipes. My family enjoy dills and I thought I'd like to try to make a few jars when the cucumber season comes along. Now the search for the best dill pickle recipe in the world begins! Have you got a recipe that everyone loves? |

Has anyone tried to make kool-aid pickles? I saw an article on a tv show about them. it seemed pretty far out, but the people they interviewed seemed to like them. I haven't felt adventurous enough to try them. |

easy dill pickle recipie 14 cups water 6 cups white vinegar 1 cup canning/pickling salt combine ingredients together in pot and heat until boiling to every jar add 1 head of dill 1 clove of garlic for pints, 2 cloves for quarts If you want hot pickles add 1-2 jalapenoes make shure you wash the cukes and slice them any way you want or keep them whole. fill jars with cukes add the liquid mixture and leave 1/2 in head space process jars in boiling water bath for about 10 min Wait at least 6 weeks before trying Enjoy

Hardest part in my house is the "wait 6 weeks" part. Inevitably, someone always breaks into one way too early! I have to really hide 'em if we want true pickles. |

I just saw an episode on food network in which they had those kool-aid pickles!! I am going to try to find the recipe for them and will try to get back to you soon

I have been using Mrs. Wages garlic/dill pickling mix for many years now and our family really likes them. If you like a salty, powerful pickle you may like this mix. I tried Ball brand dill pickle mix this year for the 1st time and the family DID NOT like the pickles...they had a very strange sweet/herby flavor that was odd for a dill pickle. So all the packets that I purchased at an extremely good price are now just sitting in the pantry cupboard. I did find if I sneaked some of the prepared mix into the Mrs. Wages that it wasn't as bad but it had to be at a 20/80 ratio...not worth the bother. So far I've canned 80+ quarts and there will be more to can as I planted a second crop of cukes. My one son is just crazy for pickles and will eat a quart or more a week all by himself. We have nicknamed him "Pickle Boy"

Kool-Aid Pickles Recipe Ingredients * 1 (46-ounce) jar whole dill pickles * 1 cup sugar * 2 cups water * 2 packets red Kool-Aid (such as cherry flavored) Directions 1. Drain and discard the juice from the pickle jar. Remove the pickles from the jar and cut each one in half lengthwise. Return the pickles to the jar and set aside. 2. In a large measuring cup, combine the sugar, water and Kool-Aid. Mix until the sugar has completely dissolved. Pour enough of the liquid into the pickle jar to cover the pickles. Discard any excess. 3. Cover the jar and refrigerate at least 24 hours. 4. Makes one 46-ounce jar of pickles. |

Good Morning!! I saw that you were looking for a recipe for Dill Pickles ...... well I have one that I used this past summer and it's real easy!! My daughter's Pre-K teacher gave it to me!Gram's Baked Dill Pickles 1 cup vinegar 3 cups water 1/4 cup canning salt (not Iodized) Pinch of powered Alum (about 1/8 tsp.) Dill - Fresh (about 2 pkgs.) Garlic - Fresh (about 2 pkgs) Clean cucumbers well. Pack cucumbers into clean jars with small or medium bunches of dill and garlic. Bring to a boil the vinegar, water, salt and Alum. Pour over pickles while hot. Cover and put in the oven for about 20 minutes at 250 degrees. (I put the jars inside of my dutch oven pan w/out the lid, just so the jars won't tip over.) Remove and cool. Jars will seal (snap) as they cool. Enjoy!! (My husband loved these .... and eats them alot of times while he is drinking a beer ..... go figure!!
