Hi everyone, I haven't been around for quite awhile. I've been here on and off, trying to play catch with all the new changes. I have a question about pesty raccoons. Has anyone had a problem with them leaving their droppings in the garden? I no longer have dogs or cats, so I shouldn't have to go clean up after raccoons. I tried using the repellent from gardeners supply company as reccommended. In my experience, it's only effective if it doesn't rain. We've had lots of rain lately. I even tried solar lights, which also worked for a short time. Just wondering has anyone tried Electronic Yard Pro? I saw it listed under supplies here, and was wondering if anyone had any experience with it. |

I have not had any luck with getting rid of raccoons other than live trapping them and having a wildlife rehab lady come get the critter. Sorry my news isn't any better than that. |

Nice to see you, Judomi! I kinda sorta remember you! Too bad it took some nasty raccoons to send you back in. I can't help you though--raccoons have not found my yard yet, though I see them in the neighborhood.

Oh dear...raccoons...we get some biggies here in Seattle. My boy cat keeps trying to make friends with them so I have to bring him in at dusk (can't make friends with something that will bite your face off, Max!). I had some friends who had a raccoon that came to dinner every night at their pond, by the time they noticed (I help them build it and stock it, was BIG) they had lost a third of the fish and this coon invited friends. They called me after they tried a fence, repellents. Predator urine. I told them what MBSA said, you have to trap and relocate if you truly want them out of there, they will never give up a free meal (and I am not a proponent of the 'other' cure) |

I have a neighbor who is having coon trouble too. He has a open veranda style garage attached to the sid e of his house. Under which he has a fridge. The critters have learned how to open the doo to get at the cat and dog food he keeps there. We have figured they are getting in to drink his beer. |

Oh, I'm having that same problem, Treeman! They keep breaking into my house and eating my vanilla bean ice cream!

My mom kept finding empty hummingbird feeders last year and finally saw one on the feeder tipping it and two below lapping it up. She keeps a small pan of water on the ground nearby and I'd told her it was raccoons because there was always mud and grass in the dish every morning. This week she had peaches on her porch table. She went out the next day and found 3 pits scattered around and debris in the water pan. They're baaack..... |

UGH! Raccoons Two years ago they got into our attic and made a mess. Our son went up to take care of the problem for us dressed like a refugee from a Hazmat team. It took hours in 90+ heat and I worried he would be overcome. The coons had gone out for the evening, so after he cleaned up their messes he found the openings they used to get in and patched them up from the inside, with materials provided by my husband. The next day he came over and worked for 3-4 more hours patching from the outside and painting the new siding patch. I was able to get the disinfectant he needed and he went up again the next week and sprayed it everywhere and took the leftovers home for his own use. Can't remember the name, but it was $30 a gallon. We were not the only ones in the neighborhood who had had a racoon problem. It had been going on all over the plat for 2 years. Bottom line is make sure the droppings in your flower beds are the least of your worries.

Don't you just love those cute little fellas. When we went camping they would always get into someones food cause they didn't put it up. Thank god we didn't live where there were bears. |
