I have numerous maple trees in my yard.I have been tilling their leaves into my veggy garden.Do these leaves bother certain plants? I was told that a chemical in maple leaves may have adverse effects on some veggys. |

Agreed, compost can be really good for your plants if you handle it correctly. I've seen people fall on either side of the fence - good or bad. Here are a couple good articles that I've found give the basics of it. These are a pretty basic view, but if give a good overview. Hope it helps. www.free-articles-database.com/home-gardening-land scaping/what-compost-does-garden-a74.html">http:// free-articles-database.com/home-gardening-landscap ing/what-compost-does-garden-a74.htm www.free-articles-database.com/home-gardening-land scaping/factors-needed-compost-pile-a727.html www.free-articles-database.com/home-gardening-land scaping/compost-primer-a579.html (edit: i guess you need to cut and paste these into a browser) Cheers! |

We had several maples around our garden at my old house and I never had any trouble with bug pests at all. The ground was wonderfully earthwormy, too. |
