Anyone have an idea what kind of fern this is?
I found a bunch of these at my BIL house and he said I could adopt some.

I am just curious, thats all. They were growing wild all around one area at my BIL house, so you may be right about the native idea.

looks like the lady fern but lady fern leaves are pointier at the tip. I had a lady fern (at least I think it was one), I planted it in the ground ... it went crazy on me, grew everywhere. So I took it all out and threw it away, not an easy thing to do.

Yours kind of looks like the cinamon fern. The picture I saw on the net was unclear...since you know what yours looks like better than I do I think you should look up cinamon fern & lady fern, then compare the leaves. : ) Maybe it's one of them.

I dug some of those ferns out of the woods and planted them around the house. They do well, especially in a shady area. Another gardener called them "wood ferns" ~ not the most creative name, but that's all I know.

Here are a couple of better pics. I'm thinking it may be a fern that grows wild in this area.

In the pictures I saw of the Southern Wood Ferns the individual fern leaves are about 3 times the width of mine. They look pretty similar though, so maybe mine are just still babies.

I don't know the name of it, but they are very common around here. And very invasive. I'm still working on getting mine cleared out of my front beds.

Indeed. The black stem, willowy quality, airiness. It does.
