Has anyone had experience with moving a Ficus tree out doors in a protected place. It was use to a bright location in the house but its getting too tall.

If tropical plants will keep outside for you during the winter then it would probably be ok. I have even heard of people in Florida planting theirs in the ground.

Hi Marg, I'm in northern Cali too. I have a ficus outdoors in a container that receives a few hours of sun. The only problem I've had was last winter we had a few nights that the temp dropped below freezing and the ficus dropped all of it's leaves and looked dead, so I cut it all back and now there's growth at the bottom. So, I recommend covering it if the temps get close to freezing. Hope this helps!
