Anyone out there use a weedeater that has a blade instead of that 'bump' stringer? I don't have a weed eater at all and I am interested in your opinions. I do have an electric edger/trimmer but it does not do what a weedeater does. and prefer not to have to use gas/oil. Linda B of SC |

i've got a little cordless Black and Decker weedwacker with replaceable plastic blades. for trimming grass it's great but it's lousy in heavier weeds. |

That sounds about what I need, guess it is time to just go shopping. I just want to trim around the flower beds, no heavy weeds. Thanks Fozbot |

I got one a few years ago that has string, but it's cordless. I loved it, but once the batteries die in a few years they're garbage. You can't replace them. $60 out the window. |

Turns out Soaphouse uses a regular weed eater with a special attachment in the form of a plastic blade. Hope to find out where to get that attachment. Linda B from SC Thanks Soaphouse. |

Hubby has Ryobi. It is gas, but big and heavy. You can use the blades, string or the little plastic things with knobs on the end, or the gator blade on it (there are a bunch of different heads). Great for all sorts of things but I can't use the darn thing because it is too heavy. I make him take it out to cut out the 1-2" saplings and big weeds that my string weed eater cant get (to be honest, my cheap one from Wal-mart does a pretty good job and they have to VERY woody weeds for it not to cut it). BUT it is gas too. |
