What about this plant? My neighbor has it in a pot and I have taken cuttings which at the least are not dying. It is beautiful. Attachments: ![]() ![]() |

Yardgranny, i thought fuschia too but it reminded me of another plant i've seen. i'll post the name, info and a photo. i'll let you be the judge~~~~ Firecracker Plant (Cuphea x purpurea 'Firecracker'), ignites in color like nonstop fireworks on Independence Day. Tubular, scarlet-red flowers edged in black emerge in abundance at the leaf axils along the stem. Growing about a foot tall, Firecracker Plant is a perfect companion plant for containers or window boxes or for planting in front of taller plants in a perennial border. A light trimming in midsummer will encourage basal branching and more compact, bushy plants — and more fireworks until frost. Firecracker plant does best in full sun and moist, well-drained soils. NP, yardgranny! you might want to Google 'Cuphea llavea' aka Bat Faced cuphea or 'Tiny Mice' cuphea, too. lot's of great info on this plant out there. btw, i found out i've been spelling fushcia wrong, too. the correct spelling is fuchsia. |

This has been a learning experience. No matter what type Cuphea you have they are to be enjoyed. One site said they were annuals, now I learn this may be a perennial in SC. We will find out come next spring. Thanks for all the help. Linda B from SC |
