Hi everyone ![]() After 5 years of living in the city I am moving across the border next April into France, and my new house has a small garden with plenty of fruit trees. I've never had a garden before, so I'm looking forward to the challenge... plus harvesting the fruit ![]() The fruits include: Cherry; Hazelnut; Mirabelle; Plum; Pear; Apple and Apricot. There are also Raspberry brambles, Red and White currant canes and Rhubarb. There is also an established vegetable patch - but I haven't been able to investigate that yet. Take care Katrina |

What a life. As if Switzerland weren't great enough you are not moving to France! Can you take some pictures and send them? The history of that part of Europe amazes me. To think that you are mere driving distance away from most beautiful places on the planet... Enjoy! Tina |

Thanks for the welcome ![]() I currently live in Basel, which is a major city in Switzerland. It is on the Trois Frontiere region, meaning it is right on the border with France and Germany. It is perfectly easy to have breakfast in Switzerland, lunch in France and dinner in Germany. The area of France I am moving to is the Alsace. It is predominantly rural and agricultural. Here are some views which are local to my new home... from the best possible vantage point ![]() This is the view from my new terrace: And another from the other side, showing the typical Alsacienne buildings: Enjoy! Welcome from Ohio. Loved the pictures from the back of a horse. That would be my favorite way to travel.

Welcome to GG from WI! My hubby grew up in Paris, and my (unfortunately now ex)sister-in-law is from Normandy. The pictures are great, it's unique to be able to see everyday buildings that have been there for ages. I've only been to France once, but am aiming to return someday. My DH wants to move back there permanently, but his mom and my parents are 20 min away where we are now, so that'll have to wait... The gardening challenges will be great and many, but quite worth the effort! I inherited two apple and one peach tree (along with the other gardens), and am still learning what to do and not do...thank goodness plants are (for the most part) very forgiving!
