I recieved a beautiful plant for mothers day and finally found it is flax. Does anyone know of its care? It is getting ragged and I dont know if I can trim it back? Also any info on this very pretty plant would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Hi Sue, If your flax plant is a Phormium (New Zealand Native) They are very tolerant of most soils, so very hardy. To tidy the old leaves up around the bottom they should just pull out with a quick hard pull, if not snip them with a nice sharp pair of secateurs. They come in greens, yellows, reds, plums & nearly black, which colour is yours? Hope this helps.
