I have some sweet pea seeds that I want to plant in a hanging basket. Does anyone know about how many seeds I should plant in one basket??? |

It depends on the depth & width of the container you're using. I have 3 sweet peas in a 14" wide container (I think the container is 16-18" deep) growing up a trellis. Read the seed packet too, it will give you info about how far apart for spacing. I wouldn't put too many in a shallow pot since they will crowd each other and not grow well. |

Thanks so much for the info. I did a little research on the net about sweet peas. I'm confused on the time to plant them. Do you think it is too late to plant some? I think I'm in zone 7. Sorry if all the questions seem silly, I'm "new" to gardening !!! But I'm really trying !! |

Your questions are not silly at all My experience (and from reading the seed packet) is that sweet peas prefer cooler temps. I started my sweet pea seeds in March, but now they do not like the summer heat. I should have started them 6 weeks earlier. I am going to pot up a few sometime this late summer/fall to overwinter so they will bloom in early spring next year. Sweet Pea is the April flower, so my goal is to have them bloom in April next year for my son's birthday! You can always try to plant a few seeds and see what you get! |

I planted Sweet Pea(Burpee Gallaxy Mix) in a hanging basket. It's been growing leavings in a vine. But I wanted to know when I should expect flowers and if you have any advice on care tips. Thanks |
