Sambucus(Elderberry) has flowers and berries; is that okay with you? I saw one once with chartreuse leaves that I liked. They grow wild around here. I'm glad you found your wintergreen.

"Wintergreen"? "Elderberry"? It sounds like you are doing edible landscaping. That is awesome!

toothpaste? haha... that is funny. Though I guess that some toothpaste is flavored like wintergreen. I think of the flavor as being like wintergreen lifesavors or winterfresh gum. I personally really like making wintergreen and mint tea. I am curious as to how the berries are on the black lace elderberry bush. Are they still good for all the things you've used elderberries for? I ask, since sometimes taste is sacrificed for ornamental appeal. |

I really like that, with the finely cut leaves and the dark color it should make for a nice contrast in your landscape. Not to mention of course the berries . Very pretty.

Ron I have noticed that on just about all (or maybe it is all) of your pots you have put a black plastic mesh over the top of the soil. Do you have critters trying to dig up your plants? |

My Grandfather used to call them "Tree Rats". He would use a live trap and take them out to...somewhere else. lol. I was only about 11 when my Grandfather passed away so I'm not real clear on why he disliked them so much. I could never forget his yard though, bird feeders, georgous roses, shrubs, trees and bulbs. Oh, and a very green lawn. The memory still inspires me. |
