I really like the Hardy Hibiscus, the blooms are just fabulous. The hardy cyclamen is great too. I have some that has white blooms and it goes from fall until spring. It also has interesting leaves when its not in bloom. Rhuabarb, it looks cool and is delicious. Iris, evergreen foliage and beautiful blooms. Those are some of the things that I love. |

It is really hard for me to answer your question, since my favorite changes with the season. Right now, my favorite perennial is strawberries, though I expect soon it will be blueberries. In the spring it is rhubarb. In the fall.... it is usually apples and pears, but I guess those are more trees. Technically tomatoes are perennial, though I haven't been able to grow them as such in my climate, but if I could I'd have to say they are my favorite fall plant. Probably not the answer you are expecting... but I am an edible landscaper... so food is what it is all about for me.

Divaqs...lol. What about edible flowers? Some of my favorite summer perennials are salvia, though most are tender perennials in my zone, and lavender. And foxglove. For fall, you can't beat toad lilies. I guess I like spiky plants. |

Hmmm... well right now I am really loving clematis and hostas of all kinds. I just put in a new violet today that I'm pretty excited about. Oh...and I LOVE when my mums come in! |

I noticed I have a mum that survived winter and it's getting pretty darn tall in my weedbed. (ahem!) I don't even know what color it is, but I know I have to trim it back soon to get it bushier for fall. My peonies are blooming and still standing even after the rain and wind we had. That's amazing. |

I have to say that each year my favorite is the Allium. They get more compliments, bloom for weeks and are very dramatic. I have the Giant Allium. My second favorite is my Russian Sage. Tina |

Currently, my favorite is scabiosa. I am thinking of getting some pink ones for my butterfly garden. |

Coral bells, alumroot (whatever they're called)- dianthus, the hotter color the better- lilies, all colors, shapes, and sizes- and don't forget lotsa hosta!!! Ya know, it is hard to pick a favorite. Some years it's the lilies, others it's the irises (irii? irae?), they all have their moment in the sun. Tomatoes being a perennial does happen, I usually have at least two or three come back for more, and they do bear fruit. Just found one around the corner of the house from the actual tomato garden...had to pull it out, fool thing was in the stone bed! Attachments: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
