we just moved into a place that has been recently landscaped and one of the trees seems to be dying. Does anyone know what kind of tree this is? Any advice about bringing it back to life or is it pretty much a goner? We think it might be a shade tree that was planted in direct sunlight. Attachments: ![]() ![]() |

OK, Treeman is our expert here but I think it is a Cedar and it looks like it got wind burnt over the winter. As for saving it, that will REALLY have to come from Treeman. I am admitedly no tree expert. |

Its a bit blurry, but I would say it is probably a variety of arborvitae. It doesn't look good..... kinda like a recently planted specimen that just didn't have enough permanence to make it through a tough winter. Unfortunately, I do believe it is a gonner. |

*morns the tree* That is so classic of me, if it lives GREAT! If not, plant something else there!!! So, what are you going to plant there now? |

I've always liked the look of Japanese Maples but I'm not sure how that will fair in the wind. I suppose if I use a couple of strong support stakes it might do okay. |
