Hi everyone, Does anyone know how to save seeds for future use. I have very limited space in my garden and I have lots of seeds left over. How do you store and save them? I have read that you can store them in the freezer to keep them, I have also read that you can just tape the package back up and just store them anywhere. Which one is right?  I don't want to just throw them away. I want to keep them so if the ones I have planted are not successful in a few weeks I can try planting some of the leftover seeds. Can anyone help?? Most of them you should just tape the package back up and freeze them...what seeds do you have? Maybe a few people here have some specific tips (or will talk you out of any extras  )

Some kinds of seeds store better then others. Spinach is an example of seeds that do not store well, while wheat can store for decades and remain viable. I've read that keeping your seeds in a dry, dark, cool, and air-tight location can make them stay viable longer. For me, I keep mine in a drawer in my fridge (cold, dry, dark). If they are seeds I bought, I tend to keep them in the same packet I bought them in. If they are seeds I gathered myself, I tend to keep them in a ziplock bag with a note on what they are in it. I've heard of people keeping their seeds in closed canning jars, but I am not sure how much impact it being air-tight would really have, since the idea is to keep the seeds dormant as in a winter situation. |

Dry the seeds.Then freeze them until you need them. |

Thanks for all the information. For now I have them all packed up in a zip-loc baggie and I am using them as I need them. |
