I have knockout roses along one side of my house....i would like to plant something under them as a ground cover.....i am in zone 8b...ocala, florida area===the roses are on the south side of my home...can anyone help me with suggestions on the best companion plants for roses? I have been told garlic but that's all...thanks a bunch!!!!

I planted herbs and a mini-daylily in front of my shrub rose, on the edge of the bed. Lime thyme, lemon thyme, and golden oregano look nice. I also have a little blue star creeper nearby, and some garlic chives. Aphids supposedly don't like them. |

I have chives growing by my roses...and my clematis and my perennial geraniums and my burning bush and across the street in my mom's front yard somehow. I don't know if they're garlic chives or not, but they sure are easy to grow everywhere and the flowers are cool, too. |
