Hi all, I've done a bit of vegie gardening but I'm not very confident in my ability to nurture flowers nor to choose the right ones. I've been inspired to brighten up my apartment balcony. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for flowers that would stand up to long afternoon sun for what will be another hot summer soon. I've got my ideas for balcony flower containers sorted but any suggestions or word on your favourite blossoms would be appreciated! Thanks!

bright bloom welcome to GG . Do you live in Masa Az.? Does your balcony have a roof on it? Any plants you put in pots in the summer are going to need to be watered at least once a day everyday.

I don't know about flowers that would withstand the heat in AZ, but herbs should do quite well. I used to grow herbs on a sunny balcony with great success.

Well, in AZ you probably couldn't do my fav balcony flower...Fushia, they seem to like our cold wet weather. But herbs do well, and mexican sage develops some beautiful flowers and showy foliage.

I put LOBELIA at the bottom for color.
