What kinds of critters did you find in your garden today? I know it's a little early yet for some folks, but Spring is in full bloom here in zone 9. I had an adorable baby lizard sunning himself on the head of my St Fiacre statue. (St. Fiacre is the patron st. of gardeners) I saw several other lizards, brown and green, mostly new babies, and a shiny brown skink went scuttling out of the pine barrens when I moved them. Also saw a big black wasp and unfortunately a new fire ant hill. As I dug a hole for some crinums I dug up a couple of worms. By the time I got outside today, the birds were elsewhere. :banana-wa |

Its fun to hear the frogs calling their mates in the night...and today I was startled by a snake in my basement...just a little one. pencil slim and about 14" long but being a wimp, Jack had to come downstaairs and get him outside....and then he tried to come back in.......too bad...Big thrill was seeing about 80 Pelicans on a neighbors lake...the big white kind with black on their wings......they are on their way to Canada to breed.....A few young lizards are sunning themselves.....and turtles might be taking a look around soon............and one mosquito........ |

Last evening I saw 5 baby rabbits hanging out right by my patio. My cat was on the patio with me and showed no intrest in the bunnies which suprised me. I am told we have small red foxes and cyotoies here. We also have turkey buzzards here --boy are they big and ugly with thier red heads and faces. swindyi |

Frogs all over the place, especially the pond. A groundhog ran across the yard a couple of nights ago. Had two deer at the top of the hill just before down this morning. Lot's of worms last night while I was planting columbines. Haven't seen a box turtle yet, but soon I will be stopping the car on the way to the park and moving them out of the road in the mornings. |

This little guy came by this morning to steal the Blue Jay's peanuts. He was just waiting for me to leave so he could get into them. Attachments: ![]() |

*sigh* I should have a yard soon, at the beginning of April. We are going to look at a house Sunday so I will know (I really like everything about it..4 bed, 2 bath, a YARD with MATURE landscaping yet space for me to play and a veggy garden but still in-city) But at the moment the only critters in my 'yard' are, My Cat, my Neighbors dogs, and My Cat's Cronies (leave it to my social kitty to start a cat 'gang') , oh and KIDS, lots of KIDS whom I have to tell 'If you so much as TOUCH my Bonsai...I Know Where You Live, and Will talk to your parents, haha'.

I probably wouldn't have had one either ladyhawthorne, except my shutter stuck open on my reg. camera and I need to take grandkid's pics. So I splurged and got a digital. They are great fun, you get to see your pics right away and you can erase the bad ones. I must have paid a fortune over the years to develop lousy pics. |
