hotcutiepie, If you haven't noticed Texas is a big state with several zones in it. What zone are you in? That will make a difference on when to plant. I'm in zone 8 and get to pt them out around March 15th but if you are north of here it will be later and I think south of here is earlier. Check out your zone. there is a thread with a place where you can check it out on here somewhere. |

Zone 6 here in the Texas panhandle. We never plant anything before May 1st unless you're prepared to cover it every night. |

Then there's south Texas where we just had our 1st real freeze of the year, about 25 over night in areas north of Houston. With the warmth and humidity, even the houses turn green around here....seriously! Welcome to Texas! |

HaHa ken, that is so true!! I start the seeds in Jan-Feb and usually put the plants out in March. It all fepends on the current weather trend that day/week/minute. Good luck with your gardens! |

Check with your county extension agent about getting your soil checked (pH). We grow grapes, figs, blackberries, blueberries, apples, pears, peaches, oranges, kumquat, limes, lemons, grapefruit, olives, plums, many herbs, veggies and nearly year-round gardening. Local nurseries will have most things, and the master gardeners at the ext.office will be able to tell you who are good suppliers, and what are good varieties for you to try. Happy Gardening! |
