Looking for a ground cover for zone 3 that will grow under pine trees, shade and dry? Any ideas?

I have violets under my pine trees and hostas at the base. I haven't found anything else that really stands up to the acidity.

columbine grows under the pines at my sisters and she's zone 3. Hosta's are good for dry shade if you get the right one. how about "Lamium" - Spotted Dead Nettles: Plant spotted dead nettles in partial to full shade and in acidic, well-drained soil. Good choice for dry shade and it flowers.

Pachysandra (this is a look from the 1960's! It was very popular under trees as a ground cover)

You can also try Periwinkle (Vinca minor). I have huge carpets of it under my pines. I think it was planted in around 1976. It will bloom sporadically from spring to fall. I think Lamium is also a very good choice.

My neighbor has a number of pines in her back yard and she mostly has hosta under them. She also has a few that are right up against my property line. Both of us have Coral Bells, Brunnera, and Periwinkle around them.

We are trying borage under our pine, so far so good and the dogs have trampled it into the ground 3 times since we planted it last month.
