I'm not sure if it's the flu or a virus. First my son had a bad cough, then he spent Sunday and Monday in bed with a 102 fever. He's better now--no lingering effects like the flu. Rick has had a cough and sniffles for a few days, and now has a 101 fever, but he hasn't really had the body aches that are typical of the flu. I know the flu wipes you out, but I only had it once, 30 years ago, so I can't remember. This seems more like a cold--I think colds can have a slight fever at times. Anybody else experiencing cold symptoms with a fever or the flu? |

something is always going around here. sounds like a mild virus of some kind. especially if it cleared up that fast w/o antibiotics. |

They closed a whole elementary school for a day or 2 up towards Cleveland a week or so ago because so many were out with flu-like symptoms that weren't the flu. So far we've been okay. |

anti-biotics won't have any affect on flu or colds. They are caused by viruses. Anti-biotics fight bacterial infections but are useless on virus infections. |

According to this website: http://www.cdc.gov/flu/weekly/weeklyarchives200 6-2007/weekly02.htm Oregon is seeing sporadic cases of influenza. So, I would say yes it is possible. I had the flu a few years ago, and was sicker than a dog! It was days before I could function. |

Yes there is a bug going around this area Sweetlebee. It's not the flu but just an upper respiratory bug. It ran through the hospital a few weeks ago and still shows its ugly head. The congestion seems to last forever after you've gotten over the rest of it. Start taking zinc and a lycine a day. |

There have been lots of people over here who have had the flu. There are only 7 people in my section at work and 4 of them had it and it knocked the elder one off her feet for 3 weeks. The other 3 had it for just over a week. They felt fine and then within the hour they were dropping like flies and going home and staying in bed for up to 4 days. There are also several viral infections doing the rounds as well. I know cos my nearly 2 year old seems to bring them home from nursery to share with the rest of us. Hope all loved ones feel better soon. |
