I am in the mood for a good soup on this snowy winter day. Have a favorite? Please share.

Gosh,,,,,don't know that I've ever used a recipe but here's general directions for my favorite soup. Cook a whole chicken until the meat starts falling off the bone. Add poultry seasoning, salt pepper and any other seasonings you like in your soup. Save the broth but remove the chicken from broth and take all meat from the bone, dice meat. Cook noodles, shredded carrots, onions or other veggies of your choice in the broth , put the boned chicken back in the soup to heat and serve with croutons. I can eat homemade chicken noodle soup any time but it is especially good when you feel like you're coming down with the sniffles.

I put leftover baked chicken in the crockpot and it makes the most flavorful broth. I was never much of a chicken soup fan until I did it in the crockpot. I've also made homemade noodles, which have a more hearty texture than packaged and are surprisingly easy to make.

Here are a few more recipes:

Oh Sweetle, we are hooked on homemade noodles here. I don't use a pasta machine, just a rolling pin and cutting board.

Same here, Gardengoddess. It's no more difficult than making a pie crust.

Just never make a double batch of Mr. Roger's noodles! I had them all over my kitchen hanging, laying, and drying the first time I made them!
I scared my BIL when I offered him tuna casserole with spinach noodles. He asked me how long I had them. And years later he asked me if I was still making them. He must have said something to my MIL because she talks about them, too.

Spinach noodles have been around for years. Where've they been?

Does Mr. Rogers have a new neighborhood in Little Italy?

I like veggie beef soup. I cook a roast untill it is just falling apart. Then I put in what ever veggies I'm hungry for. Usually I use peas, carrots, green beans, onion, celery. Sometimes I put in a little corn or potatoes and tomatoes. I could eat this by the gallons in the winter.
I also like chilie. You know 2 # hamburger (I use ground round) 2 cans of chilie beans, half a package of Williams chilie seasoning, and a can or 2 of tomatoes. I chop onion and green pepper to put in with the hamburger while it is browning. This is better everytime you warm it up.
