Does anyone know if this is possible? My husband and I have noticed sucker shoots coming out from the base of our apple and crabapple trees. From the apple, the sucker is coming right from the stock, not the root. If we cut this off, is it possible to root it at all? And with the suckers from the crabapple, I think they ARE from the roots ... can these be used too? Any help appreciated! |

Definitely not from the roots Tammie. You should always remove these using a sharp knife. If you try the succers that come straight upward from the branches it may be a possibility to grow some. I'm sorry I'm not much help. |

Not sure about apple trees but If I recall correctly, the man that I got my cherry tree from did take suckers and make trees. But after reading your post...Maybe that is why I dont have any cherries and my tree is 3+ yrs old. Hummm interesting as always Ron .Kale
