Hello and good afternoon everyone! Got a question?I got some seeds of some grasses and I'm not sure how to plant it?They are so fine so how deep do you have to plant them,do you just lay them on top of soil and cover them with soil? What I mean by fine is they look like feathery stuff/did I make any sence at all?I would like to try to plant these next season to see which one I like the best I got about 4 different kinds of grasses bunny grass, purple fountain grass, white grass, dwarf fountain grass.Thank you Rita |

I'm not sure but search on the seed site here and see what is says if they carry grass, they have an awesome seed shop here if you haven't checked it out you should. you can also search for the grass on the net and lots of time it will say how deep they need to be planted in the info |

Hello there! When I do ornamental grasses, I sow the seed pretty thickly without overlap, into a cool whip container (ya know that bigger wide ones?) filled with moistened potting soil. Then I press down firmly and lightly cover. Mist and let'er go! LOL That's if I do it indoors I have also wintersowed some and direct sowed some. Same thing, sow a little thick if you direct sow. With the container sown grasses you can plant out the whole shabang as one "clump" and you can use whatever sized container you want, preferably round. This same way works for chives/garlic chives too....just thought I'd add that ![]() Vera |
