I live about 25 miles southwest of Chicago. The first week of June I had 1 hummer at my feeder but he didn't drink. Since then I have had nothing but wasps. I now have 3 feeders hoping the wasps would leave one of them alone. I have tried everything from painting everything that is yellow, red. Tied red ribbon around my feeder holders. Between my neighbor and I we both have plenty of plants in our gardens to attract hummers. Where did they go? If any body else has any suggestions let me know. I am just about ready to give up and put my feeders away for the season.

Buy some mineral oil and use a cue tip or your finger spread some around the ports. If there are baskets on the ports take them out to do this. It will not harm the hummers and the wasps should go. I also put a wasp trap out by my feeders and kill the little buggers. They can get in but not out. |

Thank you so much for the mineral oil idea. I went out and bought some, came home, put it on my feeders and the wasps and bees were gone! |
