A co worker is going to bring me some hedge apples (osage orange) to use in the house as natural pest control. Have any of you tried this? The scariest thing in So Calif were Black Widows, they liked the dark and damp places and a wack with a flip flop did the trick when I spotted one. A couple of weeks ago there was a 3 inch wolf spider on my kitchen cabinet. Small deadly black spiders I can handle, this thing jumped and nearly gave me heart failure. That and the crickets are bugging me and my cat quit eating them. So let me hear if you have ever used hedge apple. |

My Great-grandma swore by them for spiders and water bugs but I have never really tried them myself. |

Great Grandmothers are very wise I hear. Thanks Brenda, the weekend pictures at the garden, etc were great! Thought the hedge apples sound like a good idea when I was told about them. With 3 dogs and two cats, I hate spraying any chemicals anywhere, in or outdoors. Drives my hubby crazy. Hedge Apples are non toxic, and that sounded perfect to me. |

Just hide them form the cats. They will probably think they are great play things. LOL |

My Grandfather told me about hedge Apples in the 70"s and I did what he said as at that time i had a Trailer home and spiders under it. Yes they work great and will kept bugs away. Take a couple and split them in half. It is the odor that they hate. They also kill ant's. Hope this helps
