Hi every one!!! I am so stoked to find a whole society of people who love plants/ flowers/ gardens! I love my house plants...I spritz them daily and love watching the new growth. Finding new ones that grow good in my house, the different shapes and sizes, and colors of green...I could go on and on.

My husband entertains my love and he lets me flourish the house with plants wherever I can find new places to put them! Even though they sometimes overtake his space.

It all started when I left one of his houseplants (that was a gift to him) outside in the Nevada heat when we had moved. I had forgotten about it. It was a Drecenea, anyway it was totally brown, I felt so bad I cut all the brown off and tried to make it happy.

It came back and had new growth, and I was so excited to watch it turn green again.
From there my mother gave me an umbrella plant, which was sentimental.. I loved watching the babies come in and grow!

Now I have about 4 huge plants from my one simple drecenea I burned, and I have found an obsession in the whole green tropical plant look of my house.

I have 3 children, 2 boys and 1 girl. I stay at home with them...the boys could really care less about my plants, okay the 3 year old likes to water them...but my little girl (7 yrs old) shows me all new growth on every plant we have. She also shares a pot of african violets with me.

This year I planted a small outside petunia (sp?) garden that I water daily and love to groom. Since I have little ones, this is the first year I can really tend daily to outside 'pretties'!

I recently found out that when I was really young I loved to help my mother in her flower garden and would stay helping her as long as she was out there. Her beautiful gardens were in Alaska! so it is in my blood

I can't wait to expand my houseplant obsession to the outdoors and the variety of beautiful flowers there are. Excited to know all of you are out there and love to talk about it all!

Welcome Jen.. you will find many people here with the same obsession.. I have a few indoor plants, but many many outdoor plants..with any passion you find peace. Jump right on into the discussions and make yourself at home. What part of Nevada are you? When doing outdoor plants zone means a lot. My brother and sis are in Vegas and they have to really work with the heat and do mostly drought tolerant plants, so find out your zone and go from there and happy planting!

Thanks chattycarnation...I am close to Vegas...like right now...it is so hot I do need to figure out my zone...Some times days turn into a week before I am back to my hobby-(stay home mom with 3)

The lawn is even hard to keep green unless I am out there every morning watering it!!! Weeds grow great though - grrr! There are so many bugs here also that things I have planted - vegetables were eaten alive before they even had chance ... so...I am on a slow learning curve with the outside growing
You are right...there is peace in my passion even when there is much to be learned...Thanks again for all of your welcomes
