Anyone have any idea why some of my lilies are only about 5in. tall? My stargazers (aabout 2 ft. away) are about 2 ft. taall----but the other ones (asiatic)are only about 4-5 inches tall!! LOL Not sure what kind---1 is red the others are a pale yellow. Poor soil? Too much hot humid & wet weather? |

Could be soil related - or they could be the Pixie varieties.Although even they get taller than 5" - they do stay around 10"- 12". Also if this is the first year planted, they will be small. Are they getting sufficient sun? They need 6 hours or more.Although really when not getting enough sun they tend to be more leggy and reach for the sun. If it is soil related, in Fall, add some bone meal to the soil- just till it in a bit by hand around the lily. You could try some now but I don't think I would. My guess is you have the Pixie variety that is all the rage in the stores these days. |
