What Is This Perennial?

Once again, this lovely flower is blooming in one of my flower beds and I have no idea where it came from. Can someone please help me put a name to it?

Looks like Centaurea montana, commonly known as mountain bluet.

I'll add a bit more information, if that helps:

This flower is about 18" tall and the blossom itself is about 3" in diameter.

That's about the right size for a mountain bluet. Usually they're between 18" to 2' tall. I have both the blue and the white, but I find that the white tend to flop.

Thanks a bunch..... that appears to be it. I've never seen the white but the blue is quite lovely.

Too funny - I know it as Bachelor's Button.

I always thought Bachelor's Buttons were tiny flowers? Long stems but tiny flowers?

i agree 100% w/Darko....centaurea montana. i call it cornflower.
