Do any of you gardeners have this variety of mint? I have a recipe for Mojitos. Its a Cuban Rum drink with crushed mint. I have this great little book about Cuban stuff...coffee, cigar's and rum. and would love to make this drink. Its really a refreshing summer drink made popular by Ernest Hemingway. I have a few things to trade or for sure I would pay postage. Let me know friends. |

Well I wanted to tell you all that I found this mint! I was at our Farmer's Market last Sunday buying my bag of oranges for the most awesome fresh squeezed OJ in the world and stopped by the Herb Guy's booth. I've bought Basil from him before and he had Yerba Buena Mint! So I bought a plant and have it transplanted into a nice pot next to my kitchen sink. I'm so excited about my find! |

Glad you were able to find it. I think everyone here has scared me off of planting mint.

You know I really don't know. All I know is that it is the specific mint that was in the original Mojito and i want to make those drinks over in Catalina Island this summer. Wow summer is going off over here. Life is beautiful. I think this is the nicest summer ever. Hope all you are having a good one too. |

I know this post is a bit old..but, Yerba buena is generally called "spearmint". However, I double checked and here is some info from Wikipedia: In Cuba, yerba buena generally refers to Mentha nemorosa, a popular plant also known as large apple mint, foxtail mint, hairy mint, woolly mint or, simply, Cuban mint. If you read on, you'll get even more confused! Apparently, yerba buena has many names..
